Open platform private car TIOGA PASS will move from Los Angeles to Portland on November 4th on the rear of train 14, then on to Spokane on train 28 Friday, November 6th. From Spokane, TIOGA PASS will move on train 8, the Empire Builder, in the wee hours of Saturday, November 7th, to Shelby, Montana, where it will be cut off train 8 and move into Canada in freight service.

This is a deadhead move to Shelby, (sorry - no passengers beyond Shelby) but a rare opportunity to see some great territory from the open platform of TIOGA PASS, a former CN business car.
Overnite travelers are limited to 6, so that everyone can have a berth. Day riders are welcome too. On this short notice, there will be no chef aboard, but there will be light food (breakfast and sandwich makings and snacks) aboard, and passengers may move up to the Amtrak diner for dinner if they wish. As always, full beverage and snack service is included in your fare aboard your private car. If you have not seen the Columbia River from Portland to Pasco from a private car, you have missed a great experience. You can join us for any portion of the trip at just 35 cents per mile. Example fares: Los Angeles to Portland incldg. shared private room $400 per person. Los Angeles to Oakland (day trip) $175.00 per person. Oakland to Portland with berth $250.00.
