Western Railroad Discussion > Any Info on Dick Davidson's Visit

Had a UP Roadmaster ride with me on Mon., and said that Dick is on his way to look at the railroad. Wasn't sure, but I think he said on Wed. Anyone have info?

I meant to say also, Dick will be departing Roseville, Calif.

Thursday and Friday would be good days for photographers between Roseville, San Luis Obispo and Las Vegas.

The officer special is on duty 0640 at elko headed for west

Look at his railroad????

I would guess that he just flies over in a helicopter to verify that all the trains are still parked in the same sidings they were last year when he visited.

With that confirmed, he then points the helicopter towards Omaha and heads for home.

Sound right?

Train is due in Roseville this evening at 7pm. Figure power to be a couple of freight units, no E's or Centennial this time.

I understand they are going to tack his cars on the end of the Starlight for a trip down the coast. He's supposed to be strolling through the train asking crew members and passengers how they like his railroad and looking for suggestions on how to improve this already well oiled machine.

That's pretty brave of him. He ought to try it at a freight terminal, if he hung out for a couple hours he'd probably get to find out exactly what most of his operating people think of his RR.

Wanna bet that trip will be one of the few times the Starlate is on time?

I noted signal crews sprucing up signal cabinets around Watsonville Jct. with fresh paint today. Keeping the illusion (delusion?) alive!

He should go thru Mojave and down the Cutoff to see his RR.

Mr. Davidson joins a long history of high level railroad officers to be shown the "better" side of the railroad.

I wonder how many slow orders we'll have on the Coast today, I wonder why there's been a form B in affect where some of them are at, wonder if they were hard at work for Tricky Dick's arrival.
