Caught the UP 1983 on Tehachapi Loop this evening 9/25/2005 at 6:40PM.

Is this the first time it's been on the Loop?

Did the Tehachapi RailCam catch it?

Was very low light, about 30 minutes after sunset so my pictures aren't that good.

Was the third unit in at three unit consist on a southbound Union Pacific train.

Here is the whole consist.

Heading for tunnel 10. The famous Herzog ballast train was in the siding at the Loop. It was headed up to Summit to tie up for the night after this train passes it.

The Tehachapi RailCam finally posted it. It caught it at 6:43 PM 9/25/2005.

Not the first time on the loop. It ran from LA to Portola right after it's first regular service road trip.

Actually it traveled up the Coast Line. This is indeed the first time over the Tehachapi Loop for 1983.

Eric - still amazed that he sailed right past it on the Starlight and never saw it.

I just got back from the loop and shot some pic's as well I will get to post some Monday Long day chasing trains from Palmdale to Bakersfield and back to Redondo Beach.
One north UP train had a CN box car buuilt ib 1964 With the high brake wheel on it and roof walks removed. With New paint.
