TEM7A's in Texas

Are those Russian built TEM7A locomotives still sitting in Texas or have they been scrapped?

They've been gone from the Port of Houston for 3-5 years now.
IIRC, they were scrapped.

They shoulda museum'd one. The same sort of displaced exhibit like the PA in the Mexican museum.

I'm surprised that they were never used in lease service. All that needed to be done with them is the AAR Compatibility issues which could've been worked out at a place like NRE-Silvis. I'm sure they would've made great lease units.

0 parts compatablity with anything here in the states.... not a good thing.

I'm pretty sure they weren't scrapped, but were sent back to Russia where they were subsequently overhauled and then sold/hired/leased to Russian industrial operations.

I am pretty sure they were scrapped, the locomotives got here in 1992 but quality of these things was so bad that by 2000 only 7 remained, in photo you can see that carbody had actually deteriorated to point thht holes appeared in car body, they rusted more than bad Automobiles.
