UP 1983 at Roseville - Friday, 2/10
Author: PasadenaSub

On a two-day trip to the Sacramento area, I stopped by the Roseville Amtrak platform for a couple of hours on Friday afternoon. As Amtrak's Zephyr #5 was running late and would arrive longer than I wanted to stick around, I was preparing to leave when my scanner peaked my attention. I heard the UP 1983 telling DS 57 he had just cut off from his train and wanted to run the power to the house.

I had seen the 1983 leading a northbound manifest on the T-cam on Thursday, but I didn't really put 2+2 together to think I might see it in Roseville. Sure enough, the power with UP 1983, SD40T-2 2894, and 8316 showed up from the west and ran past the station, to cut over and run on the track adjacent to the platform to get to the service area.

Unfortunately, I was shooting directly into the sun for most of these shots.

Changing directions, the power set moves past the station with the UP 8316 leading.

And lastly, with the power passing the Roseville locomotive maintenance building.

Thanks for looking, (I usually try not to share too many crappy-light pictures here, but since this was a Heritage unit, I figured there might be some interest).
