Author: schmo I'm trying to locate the "Gooseneck" and "West Bottoms" in Kansas City on a map. Can anyone help an out-of-towner find these two locations?
Thanx! --Steve Schmollinger Date: 09/21/06 06:39 Re: Goose Neck and West Bottoms in KC--where are they?? Author: DWHonan Schmo,
Here you go: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=kansas+city,+mo&ie=UTF8&z=15&ll=39.102191,-94.597092&spn=0.017118,0.054245&om=1 The Bottoms is the area in the middle, and Gooseneck is around the I-70 overpass. -Dave Date: 09/21/06 10:16 Re: Goose Neck and West Bottoms in KC--where are they?? Author: StanLytle Hey Schmo, try using google and you'll get your answers faster, and even some history and pictures from the area. Suggested keywords:

Author: livesteamer Short answer is yes if you are referring to traffic to and from the BNSF's St Joe Sub that will head toward Olathe/Springfield on the old Frisco route out of town. Any thing that needs to be routed thru Murry Yard will use the Gooseneck.

Two exceptions: Coal headed to/from Thomas Hill off the Brookfield Sub at Bevier MO use the NS to Maxwell, so they turn left at the south end of the Murray; trains for the KCS use the ASB bridge. Empties from the KCS enter the KCT at Sheffield and use the bluff line west of KCUS through the Gooseyneck to get back to Murray. |
