UP 1995 damage
Author: chicubs1983

UP 1995 was involved in a little switching incident at Proviso. You can see the damage from the photo I took from my cell phone. It's currently sitting outside waiting its turn inside the diesel shop.

Judging from what little damage I see, maybe someone forgot to unhook the chains when uncoupling ???

The handrails are actually pushed inwards. The photo doesnt show it very well. Also the upper part of the stairwell got it pretty good too. The paint is all scuffed up and things need a good heat and beat to get it back into place.

Ok, looked like the handrails were leaning against the hood, couldn't tell if they were still attached at the deck.

Since both handrails on one side are torn off near the steps, clearly a case of sideswipe that only managed to snag the handrails and not the pilot face.

Looked quite clear here that the rails were pushed forward and separated. Can't be a catwalk chain to do that.

Well, if it happened at Proviso, I would guess that one of their safe, reliable RCO jobs had something to do with it........

Well I guess somebody has to put the first dent in one of them. Too bad, I hope they fix it back up nice.

I hope they don't patch it when it's in the shop.

Don't these units have a warning sticker to call someone if there is to be any painting done on them? I think I remember seeing a picture from one of the rollouts....

Yes, all of the Heritage units have a sticker similar to the photo on the long hood. UP 1982 is modeling this one for us today.
