The date is January 8, 1995.

Looks like Amtrak 14 detouring through Bend. Where did the SP go in the ditch?

Only time I've seen the Starlight come through Bend, lived here since mid-1994.

At the time I was living within sight of the tracks, and was watching the 49ers (my team) play a playoff game, I heard a train, and looked up to see Amtrak drifting into town. Needless to say, that's all it took to get me away from the game. I do not recall who they were playing, or if they won or lost the game.

I think the SP dumped a load of TOFC trailers between Crescent Lake and Chemult the night before, I had railfanned at Crescent Lake on New Year's Day.
