UP Business Car Run
Author: NightCoast

Went out to shoot some photos of various signals in the ABS section of the Omaha Sub and ran across this hot shot. Call me biased, but UP has the finest looking business car fleet in the country.

1) Valley, NE

2) Harriman

3) Best, NE

5) Ames, NE (Ghost of Railroad Past)

I'd agree, but NS's tuscan red business equipment runs a very close second. The tie breaker: UP's locomotives mirror the colors of its passenger equipment, and NS's do not.

Yeah, I'd have to go with NS on this one. If they were still around, I'd also put BN and Conrail's trains up against UP's any day. Just not a big fan of the yellow.

But which of the class ones left actually can resemble a classic streamliner of yesteryear?

The BNSF can still run a classy business train. They just need to get rid of the 4 former SP commuter cars.

I couldn't agree any more, just put Warbonnets on the point (best marketing tool around).

CSX HAD a classy looking business train, reminiscent of the old B&O blue and gray color scheme, but in my opinion loused it up when they went to the all blue with gray roofs. I also loved the BN's executive fleet when it was painted in Cascade Green with the white window stripe and black roofs. The later BN cream and brunswick scheme with red pin striping and enormous car name lettering was, IMHO, an abomination.

Glad you are enjoying those biz cars in that pretty country side. You realize those biz cars spend the winter in Oakland and I'll bet when you finish your first winter there in a couple of months you will wish you were back in Oakland too!! :-) Hope all is going well with the new job at the HDC!!

KCS train are x UP cars chiefly. UP fleet of 50 or so cars at least with the steam team! To lazy to look at the others. Of course Alaska would do well. Power helps this is were UP beats anyone currently. How many places can you copy a consist you rode on before Amtrak, my answer the UP. Love time travel
