Hello PhotoBob

Very interesting photos.

Have I been drinking too much, or does that water tower have a distinct lean to it. Looks like it is about to fall over.

It is a shame to see the physical plant at Mc Cloud starting to wear down and decay so much.

I guess I would prefer to remember the Mc Cloud back in the late eighties, when I first visited, when things were still in reasonable shape.

You would think there would be some Hollywood studio out there, who would be interested in fixing up the structures and track for filming railroad scenes in movies like they did in the movie "Lean on Me".
Whenever I see Lean on Me, I never think about the fictional small town in Oregon where the story takes place, I always think of Mc Cloud.

Thanks for posting your photos PhotoBob, that also includes your most recent postings of Mc Cloud.

Howdy Bill, I think you are talking about the film "Stand By Me". The cast included Corey Feldman and Keifer Sutherland. I've worked on movies with both of them, and liked one of them.

Heh. To add confusion, there was actually a movie called Lean on Me, both movies taking their names from the popular song standards.

There's a thread over in Steam Railroading about the "Stand by Me" Bridge near Burney that's about to be demolished.

There's links there to some recent photos I took. Wil Wheaton ("Gordy" from Stand by Me) linked to the article and my photos in his blog a few days ago.

And yes, it's sad to watch another short line die slowly, and so late in the game compared to many others that drifted away before it. The McCloud has hung on for a very long time in the face of many obstacles it would seem.
