Dumfermline Sub reopened
Author: MEKoch

BNSF Dumfermline Sub from Vermont, IL northeast to Canton, IL has reopened for traffic. BNSF supplies coal to the Ameren generating plant near Canton at Duck Creek. BNSF was giving the PRB coal trains to Keokuk Jct. Railway at Kolbe, southwest of Peoria. KJRY was then taking them west to Canton, and down to the plant. With the reopening of this railway, BNSF has a coal haul completely over their own lines (no revenue sharing.........). Tie replacement and grade crossing work was done. The first train operated in the past four days.

The correct subdivision name is the Yates City Sub and it runs from the connection with the Peoria Sub at Yates to the Beardstown Sub at Vermont. The trains are changing ends at Vermont or Beardstown and running back north to Dunfermline from there. I met the first one at Avon, IL Wednesday morning and it was in 2 x 2 DP configuration with 132 loads.
