RailPower gensets #5404 and #5406 entered service on the M&ET today. Apparently the GEs are now "stored serviceable".

Well, those old GE 70-tonners sure lasted a long time, and sure sounded great under load. Gonna miss them. They just had such a great 4-stroke thumping sound, better than the bigger GE road units.

I wonder what the M&ET crews think of the new power?

And: how do those 2-axle GE trucks ride compared to the EMD Blomberg trucks?

So does this mean that the M&ET now has 4 Gensets? Will they be painted to match the other 2 RP20BD's??? I havnt seen any updates on the M&ET site about them acquiring anymore Gensets.

There are SIX RailPower gensets on the M&ET now; M&ET #2000 and #2001, and RailPower lease units #5403, #5404, #5405, and #5406. All of the GE 70-tonners and SW1500s are stored.

The Blombergs are a better ride.
