There is a big deiferance between the BNSF website/employee portal and the BNSF Emulater for crew's. I to was wondering if you can do it on a Ipad.

The Employee portal should be fine.

For the EMU to work on the ipad or iphone they would need to have a full copy of java installed. Neither support java to the level required for the EMU to function.

No Flash on the iPad. Is your "Emulator" software Flash based?

iPad chokes on certain UPRR functions.

This is exactly why I didn't buy one and bought a netbook instead. I was looking to lighten my grip for the road.

I love my iPad. The flash bs is not as bad as people make it out. I can watch every video on here. I have had a 62g wifi from the first day I just got my AT&T 32g one a few days ago and it's just great. I have been all over the bnsf and up portals and it's been fine. Apple has sold over a million iPad's in a month so flash performance must not matter to that many people....

I love my iPhone but the only thing I don't like about it is lack of flash. The iPad is more or less a big iPhone or iPod. I need to be able to access the Bnsf EMU all the time which is why an iPad just can't cut it for me.

LVFoamer -

I don't disagree with you about iPad being a great product. But Steve Jobs ego either got in the way or his genius will move web browsing away from Flash towards different browser standards like HTML5. I have found there are employee things you can't do on an iPhone or iPad. There are some work arounds that let you get most of the info you are after. The lack of native pdf support is a disappointment too. There are some awkward pdf apps but it would be much better if we had Apple Preview or Adobe Reader to read those massive GCOR files.

No way will I buy another Windows machine;-) Haven't touched it since Windows ME. iPad will undoubtedly get cheaper and better.
