UP 2934/DRGW 5411 saved from scrappers

This locomotive has been saved from the scrapper. It's going to the Utah Southern Railroad for iron ore service.

Will it be overhauled/shopped and repainted before going or just go as is? I don't know what kind of condition it is in but just curious... Thanks!

Glad to hear it Mike, hope it serves you well. Here is a view of
it from 14 years ago in helper service in the Oregon Cascades. I always
liked all the lights it had on it. Even a rotary beacon. If the marker
lights had been on it would have been perfect!

Great news! 5411 is my favorite Rio Grande SD40T-2. I think it was the first one I photographed back in Roseville, CA in summer 1992 and later was the first one I saw with "Christmas tree" lighting, as highlighted in Geoff's photo.

Glad you found it at the Blackmon Auction - do you have a current photo of your new purchase? I'd guess its painted yellow.
