Western Railroad Discussion > New UP C45ACCTE Locomotives

Question: Does anyone know the numbers of the five new GE C45ACCTE locomotives which should be delivered to the UP late this month and early next month? I believe these will be the first UP GEs with the new 12-cylinder prime mover.

Haven't heard about these before. Would someone like to give some details, Why the new prime mover? Is this the new standard for GE's?

Don't you people pay attention to the TO News on the TO Home page ?? There is a story there today !! I guess Todd needs to put it in big, red, bold letters !

I'm sure there are people on TO that don't have the TO Home page bookmarked, but rather bookmark the Western Board, Eastern Board, Steam etc.. The news column does not show up if you bookmark it that way. Did you ever think of that or should Todd post that in big red bold letters?

Most of the time I'm in here late in the evening and don't have to log in,

second, you don't have to be on the TO Home page to log in. The log-in feature shows up in all the discussion groups. Plus, the majority of the photos are of UP anyway and are not worth looking at.

I saw the news story, then I looked for this post so I could ask a question.
Why aren't they called AC45CW's?
Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe that's the Conrail designation.

C45ACCTE fits The UP Way of classifying its locomotives. They don't have 4500 hp, by the way.
The LocoNotes site says this is just a way to distinguish them from the previous units.

Guess you need to understand that many don't look at that page. I only enter via links sent to me anymore, and do not have time to sift through all left coast stuff to find interesting content.


Even if they were in 72 pt. pink with purple polka dotted letters, I would never see it.
