Fresh Paint UP diner 4815
Author: kdrtrains

Greetings All

Just rolled our Union Pacific diner #4815 from our paint booth here at the Arizona Railway Museum in Chandler, AZ.

Included are the before and after photos. The striping and lettering will be in about three weeks or after the paint has had a chance to cure.

This is a fully functional diner and is used often for fund raisers with a complete kitchen staff and waiters.
If you get to Phoenix, come see us!

This is an interior photo of the 4815 at the Christmas fund raiser just before the guests were seated. It is a complete spaghetti dinner, two nights in a row and is sold out each year. We also just did the St Pats day (corn beef and cabbage) and that event was also sold out. Great fun!
I have no idea what became of the original trucks

Looks great. My son and I visited the museum last month when it was still being painted.

A very nice operation you've got there with a very impressive collection of passenger equipment. The volunteers were friendly and helpful as well.

Anyone visiting the area should make it a point to visit the museum.

Looks great! Just curious, though...why they went with smoke colored glass rather then the original blue-green tint.

I am not 100% sure on this answer, however many of the windows in some of our passenger equipment were vandalized (at the old location)and were replaced with this glass because of the extreme heat in Phoenix during the hellish summers.
The windows may have been changed by one of the previous owners prior to ARM receiving the car.

regarding the trucks
those cars WERE BUILT with the type under it now
UP and ATSF retrucked some of their cars over the years
with the OSH design
