Then USR 3000 (both ex-UP), Iron Springs, UT.

USR 3100 SD40T-2 (ex-D&RGW?) spotting the Comstock iron ore mine tipple. All three shots, 4/27/11.

Remains of the 1983 Thistle, UT, slide. Town gone, D&RGW main rerouted (eventually) into the tunnel in foreground shadow. It was a real rush job done in amazingly short time! 4/28/11

A new "turntable"! At the Tie Fork Rest Area on US 6, west slope of Soldier Summit, UT. Ex-D&RGW main on the slope above. Was this how the Credit Mobilier built UP's first turntable? 4/28/11

Model steam engine #435 at the Tie Fork rest area, UT. 4/28/11

Stored locomotives of Broken Arrow switching service at Flux, UT, on UP's Ellerbeck Industrial Lead, 4/30/11. On the left, BLH RS4TC 243 (ex-US Army); in the middle, a rare (1 of only 2 built) Alco SSB-9 #? (A-unit of a cow-calf set, ex-US Steel #002); on the right, an Alco S6 3? (ex-US Steel #1).

Mike Root, the USR owner, said he'd paint #3100 RIO GRANDE if he had an extra $20,000. Anyone got $20,000 going to waste?

I believe that tunnel motor is former SP, due to the large fuel tank. The Grande tunnel motors had smaller tanks as I recall.

That is former D&RGW 5411. That is the shorter fuel tank.

You don't like the original UP streamliner colors from the 30's?
