Western Railroad Discussion > Prineville Dinner Train Cars in Bend - Headed North

As of noon today, the 2 former City of Prineville Ry Dinner Train cars were in Bend, OR being readied for their trip North to the Mt. Rainier Scenic RR.

The cars will be added to a Northbound consist later today for delivery to MRSRR in Tacoma. The cars are ex: Milwaukee coaches and will be painted in Tacoma in the new MRSRR paint scheme that uses the Milwaukee colors.

We had these cars at Prineville for more than 20 years and got good service out of them. While we will miss them here on the COPR, they will be a nice addition to our passenger fleet at Elbe, WA.

Is that A/C unit going to clear the tunnels on the O.T.?

One way or the other the old "swamp cooler" will be gone. I always hated that thing. It was added in the late 199o's.

Saw the things at Prineville Junction...wondered where they were headed. I seem to recall that these cars had their seats removed...is that correct? What is the plan for adding seats if so?

The cars are set up with tables and chairs and will likely remain that way at MRSRR.

They are still sitting in Bend as of 10:30 am today.

Does Prineville still have 1 car left or did it go some where else already?

We still have the baggage car at Prineville and it is for sale.

Per BNSF, they are being held for an unknown reason...

They are still sitting near the Bend Depot as of 5:30 pm today.
Doesn't look like they are being worked on.
