One of the last remaining Southern Pacific redwood framed depots can be found in Willcox, Arizona. Willcox has a long history as a wild west town. Cattle were loaded aboard SP trains for shipment. Warren Earp youngest brother of Wyatt Earp was gunned down in Brown's Saloon 1900. Tom

The "old west" is still there to photographh. It goes hand in hand with railfanning. Thanks !

Wilcox was infamous in the SP law department. According to company lore, a man drive in front of a locomotive running long hood forward with the headlight, but not the oscillating white "Gyralight" on. A Wilcox attorney sued on behalf of the widow claiming negligence and won several million dollars. Now that Wilcox had a rich widow he then married her. A warm, fuzzy happy ending. But I can't look at the place without thinking of that history.

Wilcox is a great little town. Just across from the depot is a red passenger car that's been reborn as a BBQ restaurant. A must stop.
