Just another day in Santa Clara
Author: SCUfoamer

Its nice when you have access to your school's camera equipment. Decided to take the 70-200 f2.8 out for the sunset/evening commute around santa clara.

Shot 1- Northbound Bullet doing track speed into Santa Clara. San Jose skyline in the back ground.

Shot 2- Northbound bullet passes the MRVSJ still on the siding from the Stockton bound ACE

Shot 3- MRVSJ heads into the siding AKA its final destination

Nice series of shots! Was #1 shot from about where Newhall Tower was?

I used to do school photography at the same place... In 1994... B&W film with a cheap Pentex SLR..

Sadly, its all changed... The GP9Es, other GPs, and the SW1500 constantly switching are gone.... .

And it was not fenced off like Area 51. As long as I stayed out of the way, they didnt care.

I couldn't tell you where newhall tower was. All of these shots are shot from around the same place. At the very south/east end of the Santa Clara Depot on the new platform

hard to tell exactly with the telephoto effect, but the 1st photo appears to have been shot from the South end of the new Santa Clara center platform. Newhall tower would have been behind (South of) the commute, this side of the I-880 overpass.

Nice photo - love the light.

That is correct. I am assuming that Newhall tower was at the tracks and Newhall Street. If that is the case then yes, The tower would have been right before the overpass in the distance (880)

After looking at it again, I'm guessing the tower would have been about where the power is on the far end of the commuter train coming at you in #1. I like the effect... I'm looking forward to coming to see family for Christmas and playing with my 100 - 400mm "L" lens.
