Western Railroad Discussion > Marysville Depot: the beginning of the end...Date: 11/20/12 09:15 Marysville Depot: the beginning of the end... Author: santafe199 Following up on a tip from "nwkrailfan" I made the short trek north to check out the scene in Marysville, KS. The mysterious truck + load that parked there
Sunday night was done so apparently in coincidence (see nwkrailfan's thread: "What is it" posted 11-18 on the Western forum). In other recent news posted by "switchlock" (see: "Sad News from Marysville", 11-15 also on the Western forum), it appears funding for saving this grand piece of RR history fell way short of the needed amount. It would also seem that with cold & calculated efficiency this building now has a date with the wrecker's ball. I live less than an hour away from this site so I'll be on hand as much as possible to record the end. It won't be pretty... 1. & 2. Pre-sunrise scenes of the Union Pacific depot in Marysville, KS. Yeah, ok... Date: 11/20/12 16:06 Re: Marysville Depot: the beginning of the end... Author: The_Chief_Way hard to believe that such an iconic depot will be laid to waste by a railroad town and a
a historic-minded railroad........."UP 150....right!" Date: 11/20/12 17:09 Re: Marysville Depot: the beginning of the end... Author: imrl It really doesn't have anything to do with the UP. They are giving the depot to the city. The city doesn't want it. They believe it will be too cost prohibitive to restore it.
