SW1200 630, is there life after Milwaukee?
Author: BrianA

Of some photos I've recently scanned I came upon this photo of Milwaukee Road SW1200 630 at Kent, WA 6-5-77. This is the information I have on the 630 after being retired.

The 630 was retired Feb 1984, to RSSX 202 and then to NPP (Norwood Pulp and Paper) 103 in 10/89.

I can find no information at all on RSSX or NPP. Can someone here help? I am guessing that the 630 has long been retired and scrapped but there is nothing official. Just curious, does anyone have photos or info on the 630 showing its life after the Milwaukee?

Thanks!

Casting about online turns up a different story - from RSSX 202 to Atlantic & Western 202, then Meridian & Bigbee 1208, which is still in service in a different version of orange and black:

A lot of details have changed over the years - added spark arrestors, roller bearings, handrails along the edge of the walkways, drop-step and reconfigured handrails on the end. Here are some shots showing RSS 202 with the spark arrestors and rollers already in place, but the handrails still as they were:

Guess a frame number check of MNBR 1208 is in order...

Thanks Evan.
This information will be very helpful. Really glad to see the old SW1200 is still around today!
