Spent the day in the Savanna Illinois area with good friend Dave Kroeger. Other then being a little cold it was a good day.

1. CP 4427, a yard switcher on this November day, drifts across the BNSF/CP diamond (ex CB&Q/Milw)in Savanna Illinois.

2. The CP switch engine came over to the Illinois side to do some switching in the Savanna yard and help train 271 with a set out & pick up, more on this train later.

3. BNSF 6129, 5117 & DPU 5839 are the power on U-STNMIX1 (Unit Oil train) as it works it way south along the Mississippi River in Savanna. The new oil in North Dakota has changed the traffic patterns in Savanna, less stack trains and more unit oil trains.

4. BNSF 9897, 9814 & DPU 9699 are the power on the U-KEEBIR2. This unit train is also a Southbound (Eastbound) in Savanna but it moves taconite pellets used in the steel making process.

5. ICE 6412, 6433, CP 6066 & 5951 on train #271 cross the Mississippi River moving from Savanna ILL to Sabula Iowa after making a set out & pick up in Savanna. This train will turn north and run toward Dubuque Iowa.

6. About fifteen miles north of Sabula is Bellevue Iowa. Train #271 is at the corner of Market Street and North 2nd Street doing some street running in Bellevue.

7. BNSF 4751 & 8985 handle the H-NTWBRC1. On the head-end (a few cars behind the power) was a interesting cut of tractors from International Harvester, Case & Ford.
