Western Railroad Discussion > First Copper Basin VisitDate: 11/25/12 14:34 First Copper Basin Visit Author: DRGW My travels this year for the long Thanksgiving weekend has us in Arizona for 3 days so that my wife could visit a friend in Tucson. Needing to be at our Hotel in Yuma Saturday night so that the drive home today wouldn't be spent sitting in the desert with thousands of lifted trucks with toy boxes heading home from Glamis, my wife was up for the nearly 400+ mile trip Saturday to Copper Country and on to Yuma. Leaving our Hotel early Saturday morning in Tucson, we arrived at Hayden around 9am. From some info I had recieved from another TO member the night before, there should have been a train at the Ray mine loading. After nearly a 2 hour wait at Ray Junction, the radio came to life with OT-1 with 55 loads ready to leave the mine on the Ray block! I was starting to have my doubts as it was nearing noon and we had a long drive ahead of us. Things worked out and was able to get a quick chase in, thus ending my quick trip to the Copper Basin Railway.
