Western Railroad Discussion > Today's set of TicTacs from Idaho to UtahDate: 11/28/12 20:19 Today's set of TicTacs from Idaho to Utah Author: F40PHR231 While driving near Lava Hot Springs, Idaho I stumbled upon an empty "acid train" making its way towards Utah. Naturally I took this opportunity to grab a few shots, and the Olympic unit was an added bonus:
1) The TicTacTrain rolling west on the Oregon Short Line route. 2) A new crew boarded in McCammon, and after throwing two switches, the train took a left at the wye and continued south towards Cache Junction and Ogden. 3) Red Rock Pass, which is where Lake Bonneville (the larger lake that reigned before shrinking to what is now the Great Salt Lake) breached the mountains and drained towards the Snake River. There was quite a bit of activity around Pocatello, and scoring three trains on the route through Cache Junction certainly made up for last week's bore of a drive. :) Edited 1 time(s). I wonder if any of the crew members refer to this job as "taking an acid trip" (they'd probably have to be almost as old as me, or at least be familiar with 1960's counter-culture).
