A few hours in the Gorge back in August
Author: lotharb

Found a few minutes to collect thoughts from my numerous trips in the last few months.
Usually, in August, I manage a weekend somewhere in the PNW....this year?... I managed a few hours in the Columbia Gorge.
1. A manifest, WB through the classic tunnel at Lyle, WA
2. Amtrak, #27, the Spokane to Portland section of the Empire Builder, easing out of Wishram
3. Westbound UP stack train, on the OR side of the Columbia at Celilo, OR. You can barely make out the lone DPU in the back, having just crossed the Deschutes River outlet into the Columbia

4. Loaded grain heading down the Columbia at Avery, WA
5. Same grain train taking the siding at Lyle, WA
6. I assume BNSF 5653 is low on hours, that one grain overtakes another here at Lyle
