does the u.p. run helpers both e/b from w.c. and w/b from indio over beaumont hill? if so, what trains are most likely to get helpers (manifests or stacks). if not, i would assume most of the trains over beaumont hill are dpu'd??

No helpers, all DPU. But a few trains have stalled on the wb climb out of Garnet the last couple of years (both with and without DPU's) and crew and locomotives were sent out of West Colton to "rescue" the stalled trains.

I saw a symbol of EWCBEH, which I interpret to be Beaumont Helpers out of West Colton. Google Maps showed 2 single units at Indio. That might be evidence of Beaumont helpers between runs?

Manned Help has pretty much gone the way of the old SD&AE Rwy...But there are always exceptions!
