Talgo in Colorado.
Author: qman

ThatTalgo train, pulled by BNSF 4798, had an added feature as it rolled through NA Jct.,passing the former MOP line to KS. AMTK heritage 145 was lending a hand.

4798 arriving at Avondale, CO. with AMTK 145 and Talgo in tow. The UP had a Wk. Xtra waiting to head east.

Pardon me, but where was the UP train headed and what kind of train was it?

It's a work train with a dozen ballast cars. A large force was waiting trackside in Boone, CO. as was a Holland welding truck waiting at NA Jct

I'd assume the P42 is to be the unit used for testing, since I know the BNSF motor can't produce HEP, and I doubt it's certified for Talgo speeds.

thanks for the shot Carl, is the cab car as ugly as I think it is? I heard they named it Mater in the plant where it was built.

Please, keep it there. With the new "420" law, maybe someone would actually like the looks of it as they are are scarfing down the Doritos

About time! Six years of 25mph and angle bars every 4ft sucked.

The entire train was to be handed off to the TTCI at Avondale, with the 4798 wyed and buffer cars returned. Buffer cars were to be added on to today's #4. The P42 went with the Talgo train.

Will it be tested as fast as that P42 will go?

I though the Talgos have their own power generators?
I have seen BNSF Units pulling the Talgos in the Cascades Corridor.
Maybe this set doesnt have a power generator?

Thanks for these. However, I have a question about
photo #1. Is that an old Greyhoud GM "Silver Sides"
coach in the right background, that looks to have
been converted to an RV. If it is, not many of those
around any more. Don't know if any have been preserved,
but rode on them as a kid.
