These things aren't as new as the articles would lead you to believe--gensets have been at work at Proviso for nearly the entire year. But I went back for a retirement party Wednesday, and there were four of these units out there, including some numbered higher than UPY 887, so they're in use. They move around very quietly (which probably wouldn't be true if one were pulling a cut back for rehumping). When some of the "engines of change" began to arrive at Proviso many years ago, you couldn't find many people that would say anything good about them (despite the PR they got). I've heard good things about these from the RCOs that use them, though, so I presume that a lot of the bugs have been ironed out (mixed metaphor...sorry!).
