The long range forecast shows sunny, 68º and 71º for Saturday and Sunday of Winterail. That can always change. Stockton Xing has the most action and variety in Central California. This train list done with help from ble692, cchan006 and several anonymous people. If you see a brown Toyota Corolla at the Xing, with a removable rooftop magnetic antenna, say, "Hi" to mapboy!

Stockton Xing- note safety is an issue around the crossing, especially after dark. Don't trespass on foot or with your car. Trains listed roughly in expected order, but stuff happens. Nighttime tie work between Guernsey and Bakersfield may impact BNSF schedules starting March 10. Work on the Oakland Sub has most trains via Altamont running after dark or via Davis. Note trains going from BNSF to UP or from UP to BNSF will be listed twice. Amtrak times are at the Stockton stations. I see in "Preview" that the columns disappeared. Corrections welcome.

Normally one could see the MMIRV via Altamont, but it's temporarily passing before 0600. Also the MNWRV is temporarily via Davis, due to Livermore MofW windows.

Cchan006 and I were at the diamonds from about 3:45pm-5:15pm last Friday afternoon. Traffic was as follows:

4:05pm: UP northbound empty concrete tie work train (UP 8794).
4:07pm: BNSF light power poked out of Mormon Yard then headed back to the yard (BNSF 7388). It stopped just east of the diamonds.
4:15pm: Westbound BNSF manifest (BNSF 7575). This was likely the MBARRIC1.
4:22pm: Northbound UP LRS54 Tracy Turn (UP 5435). This local is a long one with lots of boxcars and two GEVOs.
4:39pm: Southbound UP manifest (UP 5439). This was one section of the MRVWC.
4:54pm: Northbound UP no-grainer (grain empties--UP 5629).
4:54pm: Southbound Z-train, the ZG2LT (UP 7982). The no-grainer and the Z-train met just north of the diamonds.
There was also a northbound work train that was waiting for traffic to clear to turn their power at the diamonds.

Overall, it was a very busy hour of non-stop action. Some of the MNWRVs have been running through Stockton lately so you may also be able to catch that train.
