Another Ft. Sumner service interruption. Updated @ 2116
Author: Hookdragkick

G SSDSTO9 12 loaded corn train derailed 26 cars while crossing over the Pecos bridge. MOW had just finished welding and tamping the day prior.

Had the form B from the day prior been there yesterday... who knows what could of happened. I saw Hulcher mobilizing in the Hadleys lot at Belen yard; there equip. is always on thier flats and lowboys, ready to go.

Talked to my buddy who conducted the Z7 that derailed there previously; he told me he was called another Z7 for his trip back to Clovis. 2 million in damages and the company still wants blood.

Any damage to the bridge?

In my opinion, BNSF needs to get on with building the new bridge. Is keeping the old bridge part of the plan? That Pecos River Crossing is the most vulnerable spot for a long term and serious service disruption on the Transcon and maybe the whole system.

At Holbrook had first WB stack train we have seen. Lead loco 7305. Where did it come from if tracks are closed?

The derailment happened a little after 5pm yesterday, that westbound you saw most likely made it through before. Last email estimated the main opening at 1am tomorrow morning.

I'm guessing that BNSF must be detouring at least a few trains over the UP via Tucson...

We are heading to Copper Basin tomorrow so we decided to leave early and head to sunset route for rest of day.

As an FYI the busiest segment, of the Sunset Route, is between Tucson and El Paso. The area either side of Benson, AZ is your best bet. Check out Dragoon also...

From what I understand there is only one BNSF detour over the sunset route so far. An eastbound FILBPC that has not left Long Beach yet. No westbounds so far.

In addition to what CS mentioned above regarding the eb reroutes, there are now 2 wbs showing up to run GSR/Sunset - an FIKCLA and an FIAMCT. No idea what the BNSF symbols would be but I would have to guess both are stack trains, as was the case last month with the reroutes.

Same train must of already made it to Belen with the remainder of its cars; crew called for 1345.

Looks like traffic started trickling through the derailment site about an hour or so ago.

Thanks. Looks like you still have wreckage from the accident a few weeks ago.

How long till the backlog is taken care of? Plan is to return back to Seligman and Flagstaff areas late today. Copper basin has been great. Post a few photos next week.
Thanks
