Was in eastern Wyo along the Overland route. Stopped in Pine Bluff to take some pics of the old metal clad grain elevator. During this time a guy drove over the rails with a skid steer and bumped a covered hopper. it was cool to watch it effortlessly roll along the rails to bump the next hopper. When I finished and turned around to leave, the local gendarme was parked behind a couple hundred feet taking down my license plate info. So I jumped in the pickup and made a stage west exit.

Taking the time to read the article, I saw it said that the runaway car when through the derailer, without derailing.

Yes. How did it get through the derailer without derailing? Wasn't it in the right position? upkpfan

Not sure exactly how that works, but I've heard of it happening. The type of device makes a big difference.
