Great sequence, Chris. You caught an ex-CNW unit still in its original paint, and an OLS unit, too.

I guess one could call that ex-F7B "snail" SPMW 8207 an "Unpatched SP Unit!"

Am I looking at this wrong, or is the blade missing on the rotary?

Blades will be reinstalled in Roseville.

Interesting modifications to the car body, makes you wonder if the blades were modified at the rebuilder or somewhere else. Makes an amount of sense not to ship it in place, or to tie it down somehow. Kinda fits with the whole idea of shipping it on a flatcar. Good to see no surprises in the chosen paint color.

The blade has indeed been scrapped. UP decided that the blades were "old technology", and the upgrade involved replacing them with a with a ray gun, which can be clearly seen.

Well, at least the rear truck is hiding under there where it belongs under the plow. You can see the fresh rusty colored wheel of the last axle in one of the shots above.

As far as I can see, both rotary trucks are under there. Remember that they are very small, and un-sprung too.

Anyone know if the snail became a genset or if the 567 has been modificed to a 645 power assemblies? I still see two exhaust stacks but just one 36 to 40" radiator fan.

Does anyone know if they replace the unit body? It almost seems like they replaced or at least rebuilt it.

Great set of photos. Looks like a Cold and Desolate Place.

The exhaust stacks look to be in the typical spacing for an EMD engine block. On an F unit the radiator were in the roof above the engine so it looks like they moved it to one end and installed a really big fan. Also consider that on a regular F unit you had to have enough radiator capacity to keep the engine cool while going through Yuma, AZ in the summertime. This unit will be doing its heavy work only in the wintertime.

I did notice that on the opposite end it has what looks like a typical F unit steam generator exhaust.

We had a retired Greyhound for several years. She was wonderful!!
