Western Railroad Discussion > Signal Sunday: Fresno, CADate: 01/19/14 14:25 Signal Sunday: Fresno, CA Author: Ritzville Old fashioned scene on the BNSF (old Santa Fe)mainline in Fresno on June 26, 2012. I love the old fashioned pole line. Their days were numbered as new signals were under construction. I miss the older signals and pole line.

Date: 01/20/14 00:18 Re: Signal Sunday: Fresno, CA Author: coach It's funny how overbuilt those new cantilever bridges are. Huge compared to the old ones that worked well for so long. Can't be cheap.
Date: 01/20/14 10:44 Re: Signal Sunday: Fresno, CA Author: steve_misky the new signal bridge will likely have a much longer overhang and thus require more support, especially with one (or two) signal maintainers up there working, plus add in earthquake factor of safety.
