Very sorry to hear that Sheldon, I know he was a good friend to you and many others, and the whole Portland area railfan community. Dave was a part of many railfan slide shows and get togethers in the area.

I think a small monument at the Vancouver depot would be appropriate. Maybe in the bushes near the North Amahelter.

Dave's photography went back 50 years with a lot of K2&K25 slides from all over North America. He was a good friend and had a great sense of humor.R.I.P. Dave. Colin Johnson

Sad to hear and a shock...I saw him a lot at Vancouver. He'd hang out at the station and sometimes bring a chair to sit on. Often saw him at swap meets. Goes to show, one never knows. A lesson for all of us to be ready to meet our Maker at any time.

Thanks Sheldon...Wow!

Dave, a good friend and fellow railfan for the last 20 plus years. What can I say? We had been really out of touch since Ann and I left Oregon about a year and a half ago. Dave was one of the regulars at our Friday evening get-togethers at the good old Dockside. I've been away for far too long and more out of touch than I realized. So many good times, trips together, on, and on, and on. Hanging out at Vancouver surely won't be the same without him.

He will definitely be missed!

Condolences to his family,

John Shaw

I'm saddened to learn of Dave's passing. I met Dave back in 1971 when he joined the Columbia Gorge Model RR Club and we've been friends ever since. He and Colin would put together a slide show at the Roundtable Pizza Parlor when I would make my annual visit to Portland.

Here are a couple pictures I took of him in 2013.

1. I was in town on my road trip and the guys put together a slide show on Saturday night. Here's Dave at the restaurant 2/13/13.

2. Dave at the depot in Vancouver 10/23/13

Rest in Peace my friend - you will be missed.

Once again more sad news, following the recent news of Bruce Blacks passing. I met up with Dave on a couple trips to the NW, and and at WGRF, and traded slides with him many years ago.

Thank you Sheldon, for letting us know ...

Sad news for sure! Sure will miss his great sense of humor at slide presentations. I remember Dave around the Vancouver yard office when I would be tying up or going to work years ago when I worked the Seattle Sub.

Thanks Sheldon for letting us know.

Rest in peace, Dave...

...wow, that comes as a real shock to me, he was only a couple years older then I am. It seemed like almost every time I made it down to Portland from here in Victoria I'd run into Dave somewhere, he'd always greet me and ask me "So how are things in the great white north?" Up at the Vancouver wye he was a fixture, I could always count on running into him there. I agree about a plaque or some simple memorial up near the end of the parking lot, which was what Dave referred to as "my living room"...
...He and I both did presentations at the 2011 GorgeRail slide show. He was a very good photographer and certainly knew his trains. I knew he was dealing with some nasty health issues and his leg was always giving him grief, but he always seemed up beat and hung in there. I'm in there with the rest of you, I'll miss him, goodbye Dave, you are missed...
