Sunset on the Siskiyou Line
Author: photobob

SP's old Siskiyou Line's well worn rails reflect the setting sun last night. This shot is looking west as the rails drop down to Weed. The only action these rails see now is an occasional movement by the CORP.

Bob that is a fantastic shot. You are an insprirational photographer who sees a photograph even if no one else does. Thank you for posting. Jim

Aside from the climb southbound out of Ashland, I heard this is some of the steepest gradient on the Siskiyou from Weed to Black Butte.

Weed to Black Butte is a 2 % grade.

Great shot! I used to fly bank checks into Weed and then into Yreka then up to Klamath Falls. What memories your photograph brings!

What isn't literal? Weed? Yes, Weed is a town.

Nominal 2% from Black Butte to Weed. There is a very steep short stretch west of Weed.
Well over 3%.

Hope you get that movement you were looking for!!

They had been running on Monday mornings, but it seems to be simply 'when' they need to move loads out and pick up empties. The Mill at Weed seems to have increased activity significantly.
