MRL SD40's going through the notches
Author: jigbobby

After stopping at Skyline for some reason, two SD40's get with the program as they restart on Mullan Pass. Possibly they wanted to get some momentum going to get around the 10 degree curve just ahead on Austin Creek Trestle. June 2013

I suppose one could say that there would never be much 'oil glazing' on the bores of an MRL SD40 engine in MRL's rail network!!!!

As somebody who has gotten to put all-SD40 consists through their paces, I really feel sorry for some of the hoggers on bigger railroads or in areas where they aren't used anymore. They'll never know what that's like.

Great sound! Honestly, it sounds like one of those units is non-turbocharged. When they wind up, one of them sounds like an SD-38 with a regular 645 engine, no turbo.
