Western Railroad Discussion > Train Horns

Can any one tell me the correct type of horn used on the following locomotives or where to find the info.

UP GE Gas Turbine Veranda Type, UP F7 (passenger or freight), ATSF RS-15 Zebra Stripe era, UP Light Steam such as a 2-8-0 Consolidation. I am just looking for typical not locomotive pacific by number. I did a such but got no where.

Leslie A-200 (x2)

The GTELs had RS5Ts and RS3Ls also.

Any photos? I just looked through Turbines Westward and Giants of the West, and while the two-unit, 1-class "Big Blows" pictured sport 3 and 5-chime Leslies, the 61-class "Veranda" turbines he's asking about only show pairs of A-200-156's.

I am familiar with two steam whistles that Union Pacific used. The first one is the Hancock three chime "Steamboat" whistle that is found on 844, 3985 and 4014. The other is a five chime from Star Brass, I think that's the company. The Star brass five chime would have a higher chord than the Hancock. The cord might be similar to the CB&Q whistle that the 1522 had on it trip to Nebraska in 1995. Some audio from that trip is in this post:

Unfortunately I don't have any recordings available of the UP whistle.
