Western Railroad Discussion > Signal Sunday at Canton, IllinoisDate: 04/20/14 06:37 Signal Sunday at Canton, Illinois Author: Railfan2 Canton Illinois was quite a railroad town in its day. The original CB&Q depot still stands and is in great shape. The Peoria and Western still runs thru there , but the CB&Q (BN) quit running over 20 years ago, but most of the BN crossings have the gates , flashers and control boxes still standing. They are slowly being removed tho. Still time to get your pictures.
Pic 1 is actually a double wood crossing gate still standing, very rare! the other has been removed from the other side Pic 2 is the dormate 2 light signal that protects the diamond which has been removed Pic 3 is actual removed diamond Date: 04/20/14 11:31 Re: Signal Sunday at Canton, Illinois Author: espee2 the third image reminds me of Railfair '99 when the ATSF 3751 was departing the north end of the Railroad Museum, a track crew had to quickly make a "bridge" over the Mainline on a former diamond, between the busy corridor scheduled runs (main east west corridor from SF to points east)
