An Off Day
Author: Ritzville

I say an off day because I didn't have much time for photos and train traffic was down due to construction on line. I think most of the variety went thru Ritzville, WA on the BNSF Lakeside Sub yesterday, mostly BNSF orange today. I'm posting just a few trains today. Weather was cool and very windy, with rain tomorrow.

1. EB 953am grain train with BNSF 7126, Citirail 1315 and BNSF 5916 on the point, no DPU.
2. Another shot of same train.

3. WB 115am oil train with BNSF 4504-8021 on the point with DPU's.
4. Oil trains DPU's BNSF 6320 and warbonnet 613.

5. WB 153pm mixed train with BNSF 5224 and CSX 565 on the pull.
6. EB 210pm grain train with BNSF 4680-5433-7127 on the point.
7. WB 356pm oil train with BNSF 4309 and highly faded warbonnet with faded out number not to be seen at a side view.

8. EB 640pm garbage train with warbonnet 870 and BNSF 4950 on the pull.
9. WB 701pm stack train with UP 5346-7113 on the point. Unusual to see UP as the total latch-up of power. Thanks Ted.
10. Last of all a EB 717pm "Z" train with BNSF 5777 on the point with CSX in the mix, believe last unit is CSX 381.

That's all for today. Weather might put a damper on pictures tomorrow, especially on location shots.

Yes, it is rare to see a railway fraternizing with its arch-rival. More often you will see pool power from its friend on the other coast or up nort': so, CSX and CP on UP, NS and CN on BNSF. But it these days of an ongoing power shortage, anything is possible.

I read elsewhere that construction on the Lakeside is supposed to wrap up by July 4th weekend or at least have a majority of the heavy MOW people off the line by then..

I've heard basically the same information on the wrap up of double tracking and new signal installations.
