UP 9999
Author: danausome

Just saw UP 9999 an ex-SP GP40X go by on a westbound through Wheaton, IL on the Geneva Sub. Interesting in that there is no SP lettering left and just a UP yellow number box on the cab. Thought you diesel spotters would want to know. Also been seeing some GE's with wings but I don't know if thats news or not.

Here is my half-butted shot of 9999. "Shoot now and your're guaranteed to see it again" is my philosophy.

Will the real UP#9999 please stand up!
(I like the GP-40X myself)
Boy,
Great numbering system UP is using.
Two locomotives with the same number.
Wait untill there on the head end of a train the same
division the same day. A dispatchers nightmare.
How about 9999A and 9999B?
Dave
