There is still an incredible revenue stream remaining from the MRL and that increases every year. So if you set a purchase price based on present value of future earnings BNSF would have to pay Dennis Washington more money than BN paid to buy ATSF even after the UP inflated that price. Buffett did not get to where he is by making stupid decisions.

Make Washington's family an offer when there are only 5 years left on the lease.

Wonder if it would be cheaper to buy out the MRL now or wait Until the end of lease when MRL has the option To buy the mainline? ..... Wonder what the formula for the buying price is at the end of the lease.... For all us foamers let's hope things stay the way they are, or this will be the good ole days.... Via Droid

I have posted all the information I have access to. This is not an MRL train move. Maybe BNSF will shake out more information as it gets closer to Seattle.

In all seriousness with MRL equipment being added to the train and its destination as Seattle I'm sure this is a Pow wow between the two companies to finally nail down a strategy for operations come this fall. Its been more than well documented how much these two companies need to rely on each other to move trains and maybe the Northwest Division headquarters in Seattle called a sit down meeting to discuss plans. I've mentioned in another thread awhile back that they can expect a HUGE soybean crop to move this fall and the MRL will have to meet expectations will all the new power and employees. Ironically things that make the operations easier for the MRL, prove troublesome to some degree on the BN, namely the 3x1 heavies once they arrive at Hauser. I'm sure theres lots to discuss and plan for for both of them.

We will have to see about the harvests. A lot of soybeans are under water now and it seems like the early grain harvests in OK and KS are not going to happen at all account the drought cooked the plants. It is still early, though.
