Western Railroad Discussion > Pinkbonnet at Dusk (Stockton, CA)Date: 07/15/14 18:31 Pinkbonnet at Dusk (Stockton, CA) Author: cchan006 Jmf1910 and I ended up in Stockton last Thursday while trying to catch the UP 1983 heading to West Colton. Unfortunately, the WP Heritage Unit ended up buried as a nose-coupled front DPU on a 3x2 manifest, but we stuck around and got a little gem at the Stockton Diamonds later in the day, a solo Pinkbonnet B40-8W switching a long cut of cars out of Mormon Yard.
A westbound 4x0 BNSF manifest (BARRIC?) then runs in front of it, with a pool power CSX GEVO second in consist. The third unit (BNSF 653) might have been a Warbonnet at one time? Entire train is shown. The video ends with the Pinkbonnet shoving the cars back into Mormon Yard. I found a certain dignity in seeing this Dash 8 working regardless of the faded paint job. Long live the Santa Fe and the Leslie S3 horn! - Salvaged a shot of the UP 1983. - Video of the Pinkbonnet Dash 8 and the Pumpkin/CSX/Pumpkin/Pumpkin manifest. After the merger, the 700-series GE's showed up with K3LA's, and it just didn't feel right to hear that "EMD sound" coming from a GE.
The K5HL on the GEVO is a worthy successor, projecting the same kind of "comin' through, outta my way" attitude as the S-3L. Date: 07/16/14 05:47 Re: Pinkbonnet at Dusk (Stockton, CA) Author: P5r24 Evan_Werkema Wrote:

The EMD GP60s had K3LA's - didn't they? :-) love that classic Leslie! Gary Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/16/14 05:48 by P5r24. Nice video. Nick Tharalson, Marion,IA Date: 07/17/14 00:15 Re: Pinkbonnet at Dusk (Stockton, CA) Author: Fizzboy7 Those GE six-axle trucks really do a good dance over those diamonds! GRET SHOW, even if I have a headache now. =)
