Time Lapse Cima Hill Cima Sub
Author: gjc

Video taken on 4/13/14 around 7:30am. I'm about 3/4 miles up from the tracks on Cedar Canyon Rd.
This UP west bound manifest took over 12 minutes to reach Cedar Canyon Rd from the time it first came around the corner.

Would be neat to see a true time lapse video from that spot where the camera takes a frame every other sec or so

Nice one George. I wondered what it was like to be on the other side of those S curves.

George , Another great video as always , however l have a question which l have asked before and nobody has come up with a good reason. I look at the landscape, it all appears to be level so why all the "S "curves instead of a straight line across. I am assuming this was built for the Santa Fe back in the day. Were these "S" curves put in to run up the cost or is there a valid reason for them. I have been told it was so the head end crew could look back over their train but they would have had a caboose back then for that.
and why so many curves. Just curious, does anyone know?

Great video, George. Really like this angle, can't wait to get back out there.

Thanks for the info, I wondered if it had to do with something along those lines. It's hard to see from the video so thanks for the answer to my question.

Nice, sucks the sound wasn't there, but then again with the newer power they're not like the old EMDs!
