UP 1983 near Rocky.
Author: upheritage6

Yesterday my grandfather and I went out to Blue Mountain to catch 1983 which shouldn't have been long of a wait. It had a slow order all the way from end to the East end of Rocky. SLOW. It took almost 30 mintutes for it to get from Plainview road to tunnel one. Pretty sure it was something with signals and it definatly was something with the detector. As every train that passed it got an integrity failure. It had finally emerged the tunnel and we got our shot. Not my grandpa who worked for DRGW,SP,UP he doesn't care about trains. He said he would bring me down here. What i mean by "we" is me and es44fan. Check out his post when he posts it. We also heard a humorous thing on the scanner. "1983 there is a couples guys down here ready to get pictures of your train over" Anyways, here are the photos.
1) UP 1983 and various power behind it emerge the tunnel.
2) 1983 just coming around the curve.
3) a closer angle.

Hey nice shots! I like the angle of the one going around the Big Ten curve with the nice thunderheads in the background:}

The first curve in pic 2 always strikes me as fascinating. Really isn't that long of a train when considering the last photo. Good consist too, thanks for sharing!

Very nice Noah; glad the train crew's radio alert of your presence didn't scare you away.
