Santa Fe (NM) at night
Author: skyview

Spent a couple of days this week in Santa Fe, NM and spent a little time each evening shooting some night shots around the station.

The first image shows NMRX 108 during blue hour (actually about 15 minutes) where it will spend the night at Santa Fe, prior to leading a southbound train in the morning.

The 2nd image, just 10 minutes later, shows how fast the light changes with the blue light was largely gone and stars overhead.

One track over, the 3rd image shows Santa Fe Southern Railway #7 with NMRX 108 and the Santa Fe depot.

The 4th image shows the SFSR #07 and NMRX #108 with a slightly different angle and abundant stars.
The next night I returned to try a few different shots. The 5th image shows NMRX #105 about to head south with the last passenger train of the day, while NMRX #108 awaits its morning run south.
The 6th image showcases the large roadrunner on the side of the locomotive.

The final shot of NMRX #108 is a tighter telephoto shot.

Each of the shots posted utilized a combination of long shutter speed (30 seconds), existing light, and flash. In hind site, I should have also shot the SFSR unit from the opposite side, with more the coaches they utilize. Next time perhaps.

Also, despite being listed as running on Wednesday evenings, the SFSR unit did not run that night.

Nice shots. A little wet here this evening, glad you caught it on a dry evening.

Impressive. All are good but the first one is surreal, and yet real, at the same time.

As far as I have heard, the SFSR decided not to run at ALL this year.

Are the passenger counts on the Railrunner okay? Or another way to put it, are the losses worse or better than expected?

Several friend and I spent last week in Albuquerque and Santa Fe riding and chasing trains.
We rode up to the 599 station on Wednesday, quality operation!
