Western Railroad Discussion > UP Inspection Special in the Midwest today?

Does anyone know the status of a possible UP Inspection Special headed for the Midwest today? There was an earlier thread four days ago that gave the following possible schedule:

July 28th : Council Bluffs (IA) - Falls City (NE) - Kansas City (MO/KS) - Jefferson City (MO)
July 29th : Jefferson City (MO - St Louis (MO) - Chester (IL) - Jonesboro (AR) - Wynne (AR) - Memphis (TN)
July 30th : Memphis (TN) - Brinkley (AR) - Pine Bluffs (AR) - White Bluff (AR) - Hoxie (AR) - De Soto (MO) - St Louis (MO)
July 31st : St Louis (MO) - Springfield (IL) - Pana (IL) - Villa Grove (IL) - Rockwell (IL) - Kenosha (WI) - Milwaukee (WI)
August 1 : Milwaukee (WI) - Adams (WI) - Altoona (WI) - Superior (WI) - Albert Lea (MN) - Mason City (IA)
August 2 : Mason City (IA) - Des Moines (IA) - Kansas City (MO/KS) - Falls City (NE) - Omaha (NE)

No confirmation or denial of that schedule, or further comment, was later posted so far as I can tell. The responses in the original thread were a bit vague and inconclusive. By the way, one comment in that original thread made a good point that travel through Springfield, Ill. and Pana, Ill. in the same day would be difficult. The two locations, while not far apart, are on two completely different segments of UP trackage.

There were posts last week about another inspection special in Colorado and Utah, but again I can find no linkage of that train to this schedule as subsequent movements.

And does anyone know, if the first leg indeed is operating today as per the above post, will it run from Kansas City to Jefferson City via the River Sub or via the Sedalia Sub?

Any updates would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

UP 8734 is the power

Today it is on the PCBJC2-28
Est. depart Council Bluffs 10 AM
Kansas City 16:30
Est. arrive Jefferson City 19:40

Yes, it left N. Council Bluffs this morning and yes the 8734 is leading.

Any knowledge as to the route between Kansas City and Jefferson City?

Will it take the River Sub via Lexington, Marshall and Boonville (usual directional traffic flow routing for eastbound freights, particularly coal trains), or will it take the Sedalia Sub via Warrensburg and Sedalia? (usually westbound for freight, but both directions for Amtrak).

Any intelligence on this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
