The burned side of UP 1983. I got closeups of the worst damage plus the whole side. Taken afternoon of July 28 in North Little Rock, Arkansas,

Chances are she'll be renumbered back to UP 8383 with the armour yellow paint just like 3300 is going to

Just some minor damage a few panels to repaint would cost more to repaint the entire unit don't know why the would go to that expense.

I suppose that anything is possible but as I recall UP 1988 (MKT heritage) had similar fire damage a few years back, UP had it repaired and the paint was touched up. I believe 'The Katy' decal on one of its flanks was also replaced as it had been burned. I wouldn't sell UP short when it comes to their heritage units, as mentioned above it would cost far more to repaint the entire engine yellow vs. just fixing it up.
