I had no idea that there was so much elevation variant between Ogden and Provo.

You draw a path in Google Earth, save it, then you can right click on it and select "View Elevation Profile" or some similar phrase. The vertical scaling is automatic, which makes flatter areas look far more mountainous than they actually are.

The Ogden to Salt Lake is at a different scale, but hard to read the font here on TO.
