The Circus Visits Cajon!
Author: z-trains

This afternoon, the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey "Blue" Circus Train headed up from San Diego on its way to Oakland, powered by a pair of clean 7700-series ES44DC's, and a pair of UP AC's, one AC4400CW and a AC44/60CW convertible. I caught the Eastbound train meeting a westbound doublestack at the new bridges at Grand Terrace, through the curves between Baseline and Ono, and at Verdemont, where I left the train, as light in the pass was dying rapidly. The full video is online on my YouTube channel, under the name "HD: San Bernardino and Cajon Subdivision Railfanning in July and August 2014". The first picture is at Ono, and the second one is at Verdemont.

Cheers,

Zach

Is that a new overpass for Palm Ave. at Verdemont?

Nice video. I still do not like the left/right combo to get across the new bridges.

BTW, sounds like the circus train needs some new wheels on some of their cars.

IIRC I believe the new bridges are only temporary

If you're referring to the 4-legged variety, they are in the FIRST FOUR CARS behind the locomotives. ATTACHED is a photo I took of the Red Unit's stock cars with an elephant sticking its trunk out -- taken in Savanah, Il. way back in the early 1990's when I was a stagehand on that unit. (That's the other show, now in Texas.) Both trains have FOUR stock cars, usually up front next to the engines during train-runs.
